Registered Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians. Always look for the initials “RD” after the name to be sure you are dealing with the most qualified nutrition professional. A dietitian must complete a four-year undergraduate degree by a recognized University and go through an approved hospital internship or Master’s program. Registered Dietitians are members of a Professional College, are required to write and pass a registration exam to obtain their licence, and are needed to complete extra education every year to keep their knowledge updated. A dietitian’s in depth knowledge of nutrition, physiology, endocrinology, microbiology, biochemistry, etc. can really focus on your health and overall well-being while steering you away from focusing on your weight.
